No-one wants to go through anything. Anytime we encounter a bump in the road, there is a tendency for us to look for solutions in all the wrong places. I remember some churches I attended with my mother as a child, looking back now I could say that they were hilarious. Jump up and down seven times all the while shouting the name of the Lord and watch your problems varnish. Throw a naira over your head and see your situation change. Light seven candles and dance around them and all your troubles will be gone for good. But I learnt that all those things did nothing. After all is said and done, we still have to go through some tough times.
There is no quick solution to lives complicated issues. There are some things we just need to go through. Adversity comes with a lot of advantages. You cannot preach to me about going through and surviving divorce because I have been there. I know for myself. It is during the tough times that we grow. So if we are busy hunting for quick fixes, we will never learn anything and we will never grow.
Growth comes with endurance and perseverance through tough times. Through hard times, we realize that there is more to life than ourselves. We learn, often the hard way, that there is no magic bullet; no perfect life. You learn that it is indeed possible to have the worst times be the best times of your life. How even in life’s big tragedies, you find the joy of the Lord giving you peace and bringing you joy. That even as you wait upon the Lord, you gain great strength; you learn more about your God as you struggle through the turmoil that life can sometimes bring.
