Keep Asking, Seeking and Knocking!

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8

I remember calling AT&T the Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving trying to get my dead phone line up and running. If you’ve ever use those automated phone systems, you would know what I mean. They are very challenging especially to people like me who still have a long way to go learning the gift of patience. But I held on moving from one option to another for what seemed like hours until I finally got to a human being and was able to log my problem and get the help that I needed.

We feel that way sometimes with God when we pray. Sometimes God delays his rescue on purpose and we get tired and fed up. Sometimes we are deceived and we give up. The key to asking is persistence. If what we need is to further the Kingdom of God, it will be come. When I called the phone company, I had no choice but to be persistent. I acknowledged the fact that I couldn’t fix the dead phone line on my own. I needed AT&T to correct the issue. When we know we have no where else to go and that God is the only one that can truly supply our needs we are persistent in asking, seeking and knocking. We can’t stop seeking God for his intervention in our lives because in order for us to live according to his will, we must seek his help – we can never do it on our own. Our continuous hunger for God and his presence in our lives and everything we do will be met with an answer – that is a guarantee according to the Word of God.

So if you are seeking to know God and have him in your life, keep asking, seeking and knocking. You will definitely receive and find that the door will be opened. My deepest prayer is that my longing and yearning for the presence of God in my life and in my home never wanes. That my desire to be in his presence will grow even stronger – day by day. That there is nothing I would want more than to be in his perfect will for my life. Is that your prayer?
