Our God is a God of Resurrections

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, ‘Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.’” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘this is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.

“‘This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised: I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.’ “So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down. – Isaiah 38:1-8

I will repay you for the years the locust have eaten – the great locust and the young locust, the other locust and the locust swarm – my great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed. Then you will know I am in Israel that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed. – Joel 2:25-26

God can take anything dead and bring it to life. Our God is a God of resurrections. He allowed His precious Son to go the Cross for our sins and raised him from the dead three days later. Lazarus was dead and gone but our Lord raised him and brought him back to life. God is a Restorer – nothing is impossible with God. When God shows up, things come back to life. Situations and circumstances that people thought were dead and gone are beautifully restored such that they are better than they’ve ever been!

Luckily for people like me, God controls time. Even when we spend a great deal of years going down the wrong road, He can turn back the hands of time. He has the power to make the latter part of my life better than the former. Even if you created deadness in your life by making mistakes, He and only He can restore all that has been lost provided that you believe. When God brought me out of a lot of heartache, I came out better and wiser than I’ve ever been. Not that I did not suffer or continue to do so in some areas but all in all I am living my best life now. I have learnt to trust God and His wonderful promises for my life.

So if you have made mistakes and are wallowing in self-pity, the consequences of your errors will have to be experienced but God can restore you. He can renew you and bring life to your otherwise dead situation.
