Saved By The Cross

God saved me through the death of His Only Son – Jesus Christ. I was lost but now I’m found. I am humbled when I think of how God brought me out; how he delivered me. If God can save me, He can save you too. Here is a poem I constructed based on scriptures about my journey to Christ:

My heart breaks over and over again
When I think of the time that I caused you pain.
When I ponder upon all the time I disobeyed.
I made a conscious choice to go astray.
Further and further I decided to wander away.
From the truth I so desperately needed.
For my soul and mind you gently pleaded.
Time and time again I looked the other way
Even when it was clear I really must stay.
I ignored your word and followed my flesh
Failing repeatedly your very simple test.
All you longed for and wanted was my heart
Fully committed to you; never to depart.
Lessons I vehemently refuse to learn with ease
Life teaches me wildly as it sees fit.
I am tossed daily from vessel to vessel.
Passing through stormy waters and sweeping rivers
But you are constantly right there with me
My one and only true ally; my only friend.
I walk through fires I lit with my own hands
Yet I am alive and neither burnt nor destroyed.
You let me thrive and live for one reason.
So that I can shout and sing of your love.
Apart from you there is no other Savior.
Because of you I am a true survivor.
I am your witness to the ends of the earth.
You had a unique plan for me from birth.
Now that I live in you my destiny is secure.
Making good what was meant for evil is for sure.
The end of the matter is better than the start.
Now I know Jesus and I will never part.
I have inherited wisdom from God which is good.
It will preserve my life amongst a world of fools.
Kept in perfect peace when my mind is on you
Strong in your strength; protected by your love.
Thank you Lord for saving me.
