What is your Ministry?

Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present. – Luke 22:3-6

Whether you decide to rise up to the occasion or not, I believe everyone has a ministry. Judas ministry was clear – it was to betray Jesus Christ. He was to hand over Jesus to those that will crucify him on the Cross of Calvary so that you and I can have eternal life – if we chose life and not death. What is your ministry?

I once spoke to a friend who kept complaining about his wife and how she came from a different background – a broken home. He maintains that the fact that her father had left her mother when she was nine years old made her a bad choice of a spouse for him. He strongly believed that the differences that God intended to make each of them unique were the root of all their problems. I explained to him that sometimes God will send us into situations that we don’t understand; situations where we believe that we are not needed. Instead of fleeing, God wants us to shut up, stop whining and be a reconciler. I told him that God may be calling him (that has come from a perfect background) to go into his wife’s family and be a reconciler. Maybe his ministry was a ministry of reconciliation.

What is your ministry? Is your ministry that of a consoler or counselor? Are you gifted with bringing a word of encouragement and healing? Do you find the urge to help others so that they can make the best out of their lives? Or do you find yourself going from place to place spreading stories and lies to as many people as you can about others? Are you called to a ministry of indifference whereby you say nothing and do nothing because you refuse to get “involved”? You find it terribly important to just “get along” with everybody and be tolerant so the truth can now be allowed some gray areas. It is also possible your ministry is to yourself where you focus entirely on number one and just let the world get on with its many issues? Whether you choose to admit it or not you are either trying to make a difference in the lives of others or you can’t be bothered.

Examine yourself today and figure out what your ministry is.
