Go Tell the World

“What should we do with these men?” they asked each other. “We can’t deny they have done a miraculous sign, and everybody in Jerusalem knows about it. But perhaps we can stop them from spreading their propaganda. We’ll warn them not to speak to anyone in Jesus’ name again.” So they called the apostles back in and told them never again to speak or teach about Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? We cannot stop telling about the wonderful things we have seen and heard.” – Acts 4:16-20

Sometimes we find it difficult to share our faith with others. We hide what we believe because we are scared of what people will say about us. Being a Christian is a scary thing in some parts of the world today – people die for believing in Jesus Christ. We are lucky in America – we have the freedom to worship whenever and wherever we choose. As believers, we have our marching orders from the Lord. We have been instructed to go and win souls for the kingdom of God. That means it’s time to let our reservations go. Are we interested in pleasing God or pleasing men? When we chose to please men over God, we dishonor and disrespect God.

I learned the hard way that people pleasing is an expensive and exhaustive process. You simply get tired and weary with very little money! It’s so much fulfilling to make one’s life a life that seeks to please God. Pleasing God must be our number one motive. It’s time to go and tell the world about God. It’s time to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world and aim to please God. Let’s not worry too much about what people will say about us. It is what God thinks that counts.
