When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight. – Jeremiah 15:16a
Many of us exercise and eat right to be physically fit. Now more than ever, the benefits of developing a healthy lifestyle are very important. Many life threatening diseases have been linked to poor exercise and eating habits. We’ve all heard the popular saying “Garbage in; garbage out”. Our body responds based on what we feed it. If we take good care of our bodies, we will have a better chance at remaining physically strong.
But there is a more important component to overall health which is spiritual health. How, as believers do we maintain strong spiritual health? To survive the world we live in today, you need to be somebody with a strong spirit. Overcoming the obstacles in life cannot be accomplished if one is weak in spirit. To make the most out of our lives and to experience the abundant life that God has promised to all His children, we must be spiritually and emotionally fit. With a strong spirit, we are less likely to be completely destabilized when we face the real challenges of life. A strong spirit will ensure that we are not easily broken or destroyed.
There are really only 2 ways to develop a strong spirit:
1) By spending time with God through studying the Bible and meditation
2) By living victoriously through the disappointments of life
The Word of God will nourish your spirit as you read and learn more. Life will teach you as you go through various trials and tribulations. Living through all sorts of life's disappointments with God by your side will strengthen your spirit. Having a strong spirit allows you to live a victorious life. Take time everyday to strengthen not only your body but more importantly your spirit.
