Living a Joy Filled Life

We all want to experience great joy in our lives but for some, real joy seems to be elusive. We often confuse happiness with joy and though the words are often used interchangeably, they are not the same. Happiness is an emotion that is often dictated by circumstances. When life is great, we are happy but the minute we hit a challenge or pot hole in our lives, happiness is replaced with sadness. Joy on the other hand is a feeling deep down that circumstance cannot change or dictate. It is a feeling that only Jesus Christ brings. That is why it is possible to see believers who on the outward appearance, seem to be having a really bad time but the joy in their souls cannot be denied.

If joy seems to be lacking in your life, here are six simple steps that may help bring this awesome feeling back into your life:

1. Slow Down: Make a commitment to enjoy each phase of your life. Joy does not lie in reaching the final destination but enjoying the journey.

2. Be Yourself: God has given each of us different gifts and abilities and he has a tailored plan for every life. Run your own race and your own race alone. Aim to win the approval of God not men.

3. Lighten Up: A happy heart is a good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing; but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

4. Be Positive: Jesus Christ came so that we might have life and have it abundantly. In life there will be troubles, disappointments and adversities but we must be of good cheer for He has overcome the world. Never allow your circumstances to rob you of your joy.

5. Refuse to Worry: Worry is one of the most important tools in the enemy's toolbox. It can be a destructive force that hinders us from fulfilling our God given assignment. But we should rejoice that God has promised to keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on him. Fix your mind on god and replace your worry with faith. learn to let go and let God.

6. Live to Give: The more we live for self, the more miserable we'll surely be. We must be willing to live unselfish lives. To experience real joy, you must give your life away. Make a commitment to encourage someone every single day. Be committed to being a giver.
