I tell you truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. – John 16:20
Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. – Psalm 30:5b
Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. – Psalm 126:5-6
No-one stays in a pothole for ever. Tough times don’t last but tough people do. Hard times touch everyone; nobody is exempted. The only common language we all understand is suffering. We all experience difficult times in one form or another. We cry and we mourn. Sometimes the pain is so great that we wish the ground would open up and swallow us. Life suddenly loses its entire flavor and the strength to continue eludes us. But God has a plan for the broken-hearted. He has a burden for the hurting and the grieving.
Not so long ago, my heart was broken. So broken that I thought that my life was over. I had no idea where to draw my next breath – it was that bad. But God gave me hope to continue with my life. He showed me that the source of my joy is Him and only Him. I learnt to place my expectations in God and never in man. Truth be told, if I can disappoint myself sometimes, why do I get surprised when others disappoint me? Only God does not disappoint.
If you are having a hard time today, ask God for help and He will surely come to your rescue. He will replace your ashes for great beauty. He will surely ensure that your sorrows are followed by great joy. Believe me when I say, there is great joy in the knowledge of the Lord.
